Working Principle & Characteristics of Electric Tracing Band


       The electric tracing band is one of the self - controlled electric heating element. It is a core band made of PTC material evenly between two parallel metal busbars. When two buses at one end of the cable are connected with a power supply, current flows laterally from one bus to the other through a PTC material layer, which is a resistance heating body continuously connected in parallel between the buses, converts electric energy into heat energy, and carries out heat tracing and heat preservation on an operating system. With the increase of the temperature, the resistance of the core band increases, and in the high resistance region, the resistance is large enough to almost block the current, so that the temperature of the core band reaches the high limit, and the temperature is not increased but the temperature is automatically limited. The output power of the cable is mainly controlled by the heat transfer process to be heated to the temperature of the system. The electric tracing band has the advantages of uniform temperature, no overheating, energy saving, rapid heating, arbitrary cutting use in the longest use length of the electric tracing band, overlapping, cross use and the like. The electric tracing band can increase the service life and the stability of heating temperature.
